When I talk to new runners, or people who think they can’t run, I often find out they made the same mistake I did when I started running: head out the door and just run.

Not only does a lack of warm-up leave the body in physical panic, often leaving a racing heart and sickness in its wake, mentally it leaves the novice runner thinking that they can’t do it.

Unfortunately, many of us continue to make those kinds of mistakes as we develop our running endurance and continue our long, slow runs too quickly. Your mileage-building runs should be comfortable and 10-20% slower than your target pace.

If you still think running’s not for you, why not get in touch and see if some specialist coaching can help?
