The Olympic Games 2020 have started!
Did you know that if you ran all of the ‘pure’ running finals in the Olympics, you’d cover just over 60kms (37 miles)*? It would be a spectacular feat of athleticism because, as well as being selected by your country, you’d also have to get through the heats for many of the events; I’m not even sure if the schedules would make it feasible.
Fortunately, most of us won’t ever need to worry about those things, but we could perhaps cover that distance over the next few weeks of the games. You could walk or run, add up your steps; set your own target.
And if that’s not enough of a challenge, you could add in the relays, hurdles, steeple chase and multi-discipline events too…
You’ve got until the closing ceremony starts (8pm, 8th August).
